Laura and Ben held their June wedding at the chapel in the college where they met in Oxford. They wanted a fun and relaxed atmosphere to their day which looked super pretty indeed.
Being almost midsummer they wanted their flowers to have a Midsummer Nights Dream feel to them; gorgeous bouquets of pink and peach roses and Laura wore a lovely flower crown. I so love the lighting too, with fairy lights from Oakwood Events and light up letters from Vowed and Amazed completing the decor.
The bridesmaids looked gorgeous in white dresses, Laura wore Annasul Y and Ben looked sharp in a three piece suit.

The Proposal… We got engaged in Oxford, where we first met.
The Vision for the Day… We really wanted the day to feel relaxed and fun.
The Planning Process… We had about a year to plan everything. We were careful to keep everything fun and light-hearted, to avoid any stress. Our families and friends helped us lots. My Mum made all of the decorations for the chapel, which we loved.
The Venue… We got married in the chapel of the college where we first met and the reception was just down the road at the Oxford Union. It was great to be able to walk everywhere. The people at Union were so lovely and really accommodating, I can’t recommend them highly enough.
The Dress + Accessories… The dress was made by Annasul Y. I really like all their designs and found it helpful to narrow the selection down to one designer. I also wore a veil from Gillian Million and my flower circlet was made by Fabulous Flowers.
Finding the Dress… My sister, mum and lovely friend, Anna, were brilliant at helping me find my dress. You can feel under a bit of pressure when shopping for a wedding dress, so I found it helpful to surround myself by people I trust. I also had fun trying on lots of dresses that were the opposite of what I wanted – the shops are like giant dressing-up cupboards.
The Readings + Music… We really enjoyed choosing the readings and music. Our incredibly talented friends performed whilst we signed the register. We also hired a French Jazz trio to play during the drinks reception.
Beautiful Bridesmaids… The bridesmaids wore a pretty dress from Warehouse. Some of them altered the dress to make it their own. They all wore sweet peas in their hair. I thought they looked beautiful!
The Flowers… The wedding date fell close to midsummer, so we thought it would be lovely if the flowers looked a bit Midsummer Nights Dreamy. We thought that the florists, Fabulous Flowers, did a brilliant job. The people at Fabulous Flowers are awesome and their shop is beautiful, I loved going there.
The Cake… The cake was made by ‘Cakes by Rachel’. We were so pleased with the way it looked and it tasted delicious. Rachel is really talented and very friendly. If you’re planning a wedding in Oxford, I would definitely recommend her.
Your Photographer… I can’t recommend Esme enough. She is so creative and thoughtful. We were thrilled with the photographs and felt that she really captured the atmosphere of the day. A lot of our guests commented on how calm and unobtrusive she is. She is just brilliant!
The Details + Décor… We hired some fairy lights for the main room from Oakwood events and the giant letters were from Vowed and Amazed – both companies were extremely helpful. My mum made lots of pretty floral hearts, which were lovely. We also bought lots of candles and put them around everywhere.
Memorable Moments… The whole day was a complete joy! My Dad tore a ligament in his leg four days before the wedding and he had to delay an operation in order to be there on the day, so we were particularly moved to witness his bravery. We were also really grateful for all the help and effort our friends and family put in to making it such a wonderful day; we can’t wait to repay the favour!
Advice for Other Couples… Take time to enjoy the whole experience.
